Through the close wound crown it barely passes, so the top stays dark; through the open lower third and out under the lobed rim it comes in bright vertical bars that follow the ribs. Lit, the bottom half of the dome is the brightest thing in the room and the wooden collar reads dark against it. At 90cm across and 5.08kg it wants a room with height and floor space, over a bed, a large table or the middle of a sitting room.
