The lowest band sits above the rim and leaves the bottom few centimetres of cord looser and more open than the rest. It measures 50cm across and 26cm deep.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFifty centimetres across and only 26cm deep gives a shallow shade that covers a wide area without hanging far, so it can sit over a table or a bed at a normal drop where a tall pendant would be in the way. The cord is close enough to hold most of the light in the upper dome and looser at the rim, so what you see from below is a bright band around the bottom edge and a darker crown above it. The bulb is visible through the open base.
