A leather strap crosses the spine and wraps right around the book to hold it shut, and either side of it the spine is hand stitched in bands of crossed thread that show on the outside. Inside is thick cream paper with a deckled, uneven edge, so the block never sits perfectly square.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt A6 it is pocket and handbag size rather than desk size, which is what suits it to travelling, sketching and notes made away from a table. The strap wraps right around the book and holds it shut, so it can go loose in a bag without the covers splaying or the pages catching. The covers are soft leather rather than board, so the whole journal is 1.5cm thick and flexes instead of sitting rigid.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cover is leather, which is a by-product, and its colour changes with age and handling.
