timone-bear-water-hyacinth-basket-with-lid-natural
Timone Bear Water Hyacinth Basket with Lid - Natural

Description

This is a tall lidded storage basket in the shape of a sitting bear, woven from water hyacinth in a chunky braided pattern that gives the whole piece its soft, textured look. The lid carries two rounded ears, the front has a stitched face with closed, smiling eyes and a neat muzzle, and two paws sit at the base with their pads picked out in a darker stitch. It stands 57cm tall and 40cm across, widening gently towards the bottom, so this is a generous floor basket rather than a small shelf box.

We would put it in a child's bedroom, nursery or playroom, where it holds soft toys, building blocks, dressing-up clothes or spare blankets and keeps them hidden once the lid is in place. At this height it sits comfortably on the floor beside a bed, a toy shelf or a reading nook, and the friendly bear face gives a plain room some character. The lid lifts by its ears, so children can reach in for a favourite toy and return it at the end of the day, which makes tidying feel more like a game than a chore.

The basket is made from water hyacinth, iron and cotton, and at 1.918KG it is light enough to carry from room to room. The braided weave runs from the rim to the base, with the face and paws worked into the front in raised stitching. As a natural plant fibre, water hyacinth varies a little in tone and weave from one piece to the next, so no two baskets are quite alike. For a practical finish, stand it on a soft rug beside a low shelf, leave a little floor space around it so the lid can rest nearby while small hands search for a favourite toy, and pair it with other woven pieces for a warm, natural look.

Specification

Height

57cm

Diameter

40cm

Material

Water Hyacinth, Iron, Cotton

Colour

Natural

Weight

1.918KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the basket?

It is made from water hyacinth, iron and cotton, with the water hyacinth braided into the chunky weave that covers the body, the lid and the ears.

How big is the bear basket?

It stands 57cm tall and is 40cm across, widening towards the base, so it suits the floor of a bedroom or playroom rather than a shelf.

Does the lid come with it?

Yes.
