susannah-crackle-stoneware-plant-pot-green
Susannah Crackle Stoneware Plant Pot - Green

Description

This is a small round plant pot in green stoneware, 12cm across and 10cm tall, and what makes it itself is the surface. Every part of the outside is covered in raised, rounded pebbles of different sizes, packed close together like bubbles, and a glossy glaze runs over them with a fine web of crackle lines through it. The body is slightly wider than it is tall, swelling out from a narrower opening, so it reads as a soft, squat globe rather than a straight-sided pot. It weighs 0.44KG.

At that size it suits one small plant: a succulent, a little cactus or a trailing plant whose stems can spill over the rim and hang down the side. Its texture looks best where it can be seen up close and caught by the light, so think of a windowsill, a chest of drawers in the living room, a bedside table, a desk or a bookshelf at eye level. It sits comfortably beside books and candlesticks, and a pair along a sill makes a small, tidy row. It would also make a thoughtful gift for anyone who keeps houseplants, since its size is easy to place in almost any room.

Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic fired at high temperature. Here it is finished in a glossy green glaze, and the fine crackle lines are part of that finish rather than wear or damage, so each raised pebble shows its own slightly different web of lines. The glaze catches the light on the high points and gathers in the grooves between them, which is what gives the surface its depth. For styling, let its green sit against light wood or a plain wall, and choose a plant with small round leaves to echo the pebbled surface; the styling props shown are not included.

Specification

Height

10cm

Diameter

12cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Green

Weight

0.44KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the pot?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense ceramic fired at high temperature, finished in a glossy green glaze with fine crackle lines.

How big is it?

It measures 12cm across and 10cm tall and weighs 0.44KG, so it suits a single small plant on a windowsill, desk or shelf.

What kind of plant suits it?

Its size suits a small succulent, a little cactus or a trailing plant whose stems can spill over the rim and hang down the side.

Is the crackle pattern a flaw?

No. The fine crackle lines are part of the glossy glaze, running across every raised pebble on the surface, and they are meant to be there.

Is a plant included?

No. You receive the pot alone; the plants and the other styling props shown are not included, so choose your own plant.
