The cone is straight-sided with a sharp rim and a cream lining, and the knuckle is a turned brass barrel that lets the head swing and lock. A second brass collar sits where the arm leaves the plate, so the brass shows twice and nowhere else. A small switch stands out on the face of the plate. The cream is matt and even throughout.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wall light earns its place by leaving the surface below it clear. Beside a bed where there is no room for a table lamp, over a work bench, up a stairwell or either side of a mirror, it gives directed light without taking up any space.
