A wide shallow drum of cream fabric, finely pleated so that the folds run round the side and then sweep in across the whole underside to a small round metal boss at the centre. The pleating on the base radiates like the ribs of a fan, which is what makes the face read as gathered rather than flat. A thin metal rim caps the top edge. The fabric is fine enough to glow through, so the fold lines show as a wheel of fine highlights when it is lit. The form is broad and low against the ceiling.
