star-topped-shepherd-nativity-scene-with-sheep-off-white
Star-Topped Shepherd Nativity Scene with Sheep - Off White

Description

This star-topped nativity scene gathers the Christmas story into one small, quiet piece. An off-white frame shaped like a simple house, with a pointed roof and a small star at its peak, opens onto the scene inside: a shepherd in a taupe robe and white hood holds his crook, a sheep rests at his feet, and a kneeling mother in beige cradles her baby close. The faces are left plain and rounded, so the figures read as gentle and calm rather than detailed, and the soft beige and taupe tones sit happily against the off-white frame. It stands 15.5cm tall, so it fits a shelf.

It stands on its own flat base and needs no hook or nail, so it can sit on a mantelpiece, a sideboard, a deep windowsill or a hallway table through the Christmas season. Its pale, muted colouring keeps it at home in a white or neutral Christmas scheme, and it sits as easily beside greenery or a row of cards. The frame is open, so light passes through around the figures, which makes a windowsill a good spot for it. For anyone who likes the nativity at the heart of their decorating, it makes a thoughtful Christmas gift.

The frame has a gently textured, matt surface with softly worn edges, and the figures share the same textured finish, which gives the whole piece a soft, rustic look. To care for it, dust it with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from damp, then wrap it in tissue when the decorations come down so the star and the corners of the frame stay crisp. We like it set at eye level, where the little figures can be seen properly, or at the centre of a shelf with sprigs of pine either side. Given at Christmas, it is the kind of piece that comes out of the decorations box year after year.

Specification

Colour

Off white

Height

15.5cm

Weight

0.135kg

Occasion

Christmas

Frequently Asked

How tall is the nativity scene?

It stands 15.5cm tall.
