The main shade is a wide, flat black disc that turns down gently at the rim, with a white underside that throws the light back onto the table. Floating just above it on three slender copper rods is a smaller flat copper disc, and above that a polished copper collar where the black textile flex enters. Beneath the main shade hangs a short black drum, open at the bottom and held off the shade on thin rods, which wraps round the bulb so you never look straight at it. Light comes down through the drum and also escapes sideways between the tiers, so the fitting glows at its edges as well as lighting what is beneath it.
