solar-ball-spike-light-61cm-black
Solar Ball Spike Light 61cm - Black

Description

This solar ball spike light is a round white globe seated in a black collar on a slim, pointed ground spike. It stands 61cm tall overall, and the globe is 30cm in diameter, big enough to read clearly from a distance without crowding a small space. The body and spike are black plastic and the shade is white plastic with a glossy opal surface, so by day it looks like a clean, simple sphere and after dark the whole globe glows evenly. The light comes from a built-in solar LED of 0.2W at a colour temperature of 3000K, which gives a warm white light rather than a cold, bluish one.

Because it runs on solar power, it needs no mains connection, so you can place it wherever you can push the spike into soft ground and its solar panel sees plenty of daylight. As general guidance, a solar light does best in an open, sunny spot, clear of deep shade. One globe makes a soft focal point beside planting, and a few set in a line will mark an edge or a route after dark without any trenching or wiring. It suits anyone who wants gentle evening light in a spot where a mains supply would be awkward or costly to bring.

The spike pushes 10cm into the ground, so pick soil firm enough to keep the globe standing straight. There is an on/off switch, useful when you want to put it away for a while or keep it dark for an evening. The run time is 6 to 8 hours, and it uses an AAA NiMH battery of 600mAh. Packed, it weighs 0.812KG, light enough to lift and move as your planting changes through the year. The installation instructions come as a download, so a quick read before you set the spike in the ground is time well spent.

Specification

Height

61cm

Diameter

30cm

Body Material

Plastic

Body Colour

Black

Shade Material

Plastic

Shade Colour

White

Light Source

Solar LED, integrated

Wattage

0.2W

Colour Temperature

3000K

Switch

On/off switch

Run Time

6–8 hours

Battery

AAA, NiMH, 600mAh

Protection Class

Class III

Recess Depth

10cm

Weight (packed)

0.812KG

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

How tall is the solar ball spike light?

It stands 61cm tall overall, and the white globe is 30cm in diameter, so it reads clearly from a distance after dark.

What is the run time?

The run time is 6 to 8 hours, and like any solar light it does best when its panel charges in an open, sunny spot.

What battery does it use?

It uses an AAA NiMH battery of 600mAh, which stores the charge from its solar panel so the globe can glow after dark.

What colour is the light?

The built-in solar LED runs at 3000K, a warm white that gives the white opal globe a soft, gentle glow rather than a cold, blue light.

Does it have a switch?

Yes, it has an on/off switch, so you can keep it dark whenever you put it away or want an evening without it.

How deep does the spike go?

The spike pushes 10cm into the ground, so firm soil will hold the globe upright better than loose, crumbly earth.
