A dark grey moulded lampholder with a broad threaded skirt and a stepped shade ring, topped by a short plain cord entry rising from a domed shoulder. The body carries shallow ribs round each step and a row of small lugs round the skirt. The finish is a fine-grained matt grey, dark enough to read as black at a distance. There is nothing decorative on it and no metal visible apart from the lamp contacts.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is the part everything else is built around: a shade goes over it, a flex runs into it, and the lamp you choose sets how the light reads.
