silva-stoneware-table-lamp-with-linen-shade-silver
Silva Stoneware Table Lamp with Linen Shade - Silver

Description

This table lamp is built around a twisting stoneware base, its curves folding round one another so it looks different from every side. The base has a high-shine silver finish that throws back the light around it, and it sits beneath a tapered linen shade. The whole lamp stands 49cm tall and 35cm across at the shade, a size that suits a sideboard, a console table or a generous bedside table rather than a narrow shelf. The shade itself is 23cm tall, which keeps it in proportion with the base.

Because the base is so reflective, it catches the eye in the living room even before the bulb goes on, picking up daylight on a sideboard, a hallway console or a deep windowsill. In the evening a fabric shade like this diffuses the bulb into a softer light, which suits reading in a bedroom or winding down by the sofa. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. The switch sits on the cord, so you can turn it on and off without reaching under the shade, and the 150cm cable gives you some freedom in placing it away from the socket.

By composition the lamp is 70% stoneware, 20% linen and 10% iron, and it weighs 1.65KG. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired ceramic, and linen is woven from flax, which gives a shade its gently textured weave. The lamp takes an E27 bulb, which is not included; the maximum is 40W, or 5W for an LED and 9W for a CFL. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. For styling, let the silver base sit beside matt, textured pieces such as a stack of books or a rough ceramic pot, where its shine has something quiet to play against.

Specification

Height

49cm

Diameter

35cm

Material

70% Stoneware, 20% Linen, 10% Iron

Colour

Silver

Bulb fitting

E27

Maximum bulb

40W / LED 5W / CFL 9W

Bulb included

No

Cable length

150cm

Cable colour

Black

Switch

On cord

IP rating

IP20

Shade size

Height 23cm, Diameter 35cm

Weight

1.65KG

Downloads

Assembly instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Does the lamp come with a bulb?

No, the bulb is not included.
