The surface is pitted and rough all over and the lip of the cup runs wavy rather than true.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cup takes a dinner candle and holds it 17cm above the surface, which on a dining table puts the flame above the plates and below the line of sight across it.
