A plain deep cup sits at the top with a slightly wavy rim, and the foot opens out into a wide cone finishing in a rolled edge where it meets the surface. The antique brass reads warm rather than bright, and the cast surface is pitted in places.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cup takes a dinner candle and is deep enough to hold one upright on its own. At 23cm this is the middle of three, with 17cm below it and 27.5cm above, and the three stand together down the length of a table at stepped heights. A mould is formed in sand, the metal is heated until it runs, poured in, and the casting broken out once it has cooled.
