A wide shallow drum of pale cream fabric, closed underneath by a flat diffuser with a small round metal boss at its centre. The fabric is stretched smooth round the side, so the drum reads as a plain band of warm light with the weave showing faintly through it. A thin metal rim caps the top edge and holds the shade to the ceiling. The proportions are broad and low, wider than the fitting is deep. Nothing else is on the face and no fixing shows from below. It measures 40cm across and 7cm tall, in textile and metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMounted flush it clears a doorway and a low ceiling, so a corridor, a landing or a small bedroom is its territory, and it lights the whole room evenly rather than pooling on one surface.
