A stack of three opal glass plates hung under a polished chrome cone: a small flat disc at the top, a wide flared plate below it, and a deeper straight-sided drum at the bottom. The plates are held clear of each other so light escapes as bright rings between them as well as out of the open bottom. The glass is warm white and evenly diffusing, so no lamp shows through anywhere. The chrome cone flares out where the black flex enters and is the only metal on the fitting. The widest plate reads as a shallow brim over the drum below it. It measures 40cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
