sayed-stoneware-plant-pot-black
Sayed Stoneware Plant Pot - Black

Description

Sayed is a large stoneware plant pot in black, 34cm across and 25cm tall, with a deep rounded bowl that curves down to a short, sturdy foot. Over the black runs a glossy, mottled glaze in lighter speckled patches that pool and drip down the sides, so the surface looks rather like lichen on weathered rock. Each piece is decorated by hand, which means the pattern on your pot is its own and will differ from the next. At 4KG it is a substantial piece with real weight.

Because it is wider than it is tall, the pot suits plants with a spreading habit: a full fern, a trailing pothos, a cluster of succulents or a young palm. Set it on the floor beside a sofa, on a sideboard in the hallway or near a bright window in the living room, where the dark glaze makes green leaves look all the brighter. It works just as well left empty, as a sculptural bowl on a console table or a deep windowsill. It suits anyone who would rather have one bold piece than a row of small pots, and it makes a generous housewarming gift for a friend who loves plants.

Stoneware is a dense clay fired at a high temperature, which gives it its weight and solid feel; at 4KG this pot sits firmly wherever it is placed. Because every piece is decorated by hand, expect the patches, drips and speckling on the glossy glaze to vary from one pot to another, and enjoy those differences as part of its character. For the easiest planting, keep your plant in its plastic nursery pot and lower it inside the stoneware; you can then lift it out for watering and swap plants with the seasons without disturbing any roots.

Specification

Height

25cm

Diameter

34cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Black

Finish

Each piece is unique as it is decorated by hand

Weight

4KG

Frequently Asked

What is the Sayed plant pot made of?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense and heavy clay, finished with a glossy glaze that is decorated by hand, so each pot carries its own pattern.

How big is it?

It measures 34cm across and 25cm tall, so it is wider than it is tall, with a deep rounded bowl standing on a short foot.

Is every pot the same?

No. Each piece is decorated by hand, so the mottled patches, drips and speckling on the black glaze differ from pot to pot, and yours will be one of a kind.

What plants does it suit?

Its wide, rounded shape suits plants that spread or trail, such as ferns, pothos, a group of succulents or a young palm, and it also looks good standing empty.

Is it heavy?

It weighs 4KG, so it has real heft and sits firmly on a floor, sideboard or console table once it is in place.
