A small black cap at the apex takes a rust coloured braided fabric flex.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe weave is close, so almost all the light goes down and out under the rim rather than through it. A 60cm rim spreads that light wide and keeps it below the shade, which suits a dining table or a bed, where the fitting sits in the eyeline and a bright shade at that height would be in the way. At 14cm deep it takes almost no headroom, so the drop is set by the flex above it rather than by the shade.
