samsin-floral-stoneware-candle-holder-blue
Samsin Floral Stoneware Candle Holder - Blue

Description

This candle holder is a small, rounded dome of stoneware, 7.5cm across and 7.5cm tall, with an opening in the top for a single slim taper candle. Its whole surface is worked in relief: rows of rounded upright panels run around the top and the base, and between them a band of embossed flowers and curling stems wraps all round. A glossy blue glaze pools more deeply in the recesses and thins over the raised edges, so the pattern reads clearly from across a room. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired clay, which gives the piece a solid, substantial feel for its size.

Because it is so compact, it suits the places where a tall candlestick would feel too much: a dining table set for two, a narrow mantelpiece, a bedside table or a bookshelf. It weighs 0.186KG, so it is easy to move from the dining table to a shelf whenever you wish. One on its own gives a quiet point of colour on a sideboard, while a few in a row down the centre of a long table make an easy display for a dinner with friends. The blue sits comfortably beside natural wood and pale painted walls, and the floral relief gives it enough character to hold its place among books and prints.

It is made entirely of stoneware, shaped with the floral pattern raised in relief and finished in a glossy glaze over the whole outside. The opening at the top holds the base of the candle upright, and the domed sides give the holder a low, rounded profile. Choose a slim taper or dinner candle in a soft neutral shade and let the holder supply the pattern; the styling props shown are not included. For a settled look, stand it on a round wooden board or tray beside a small vase, so the relief catches the candlelight from the side.

Specification

Height

7.5cm

Diameter

7.5cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Blue

Weight

0.186KG

Frequently Asked

What is the candle holder made of?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay, finished on the outside with a glossy blue glaze over an embossed floral relief.

How big is it?

It is 7.5cm across and 7.5cm tall and weighs 0.186KG, a compact size for a dining table, a mantelpiece or a bedside table.

What kind of candle does it take?

It is made for a single slim taper or dinner candle, which stands upright in the opening at the top.
