sahar-mango-wood-floor-lamp-base-natural
Sahar Mango Wood Floor Lamp Base - Natural

Description

The Sahar is as plain as a floor lamp base gets: a round disc foot with a softly rounded edge, and a single column rising from it, tapering as it goes so it is widest where it meets the foot and narrowest under the lampholder. The mango wood is left natural and reads pale, almost limed, with the grain and the occasional darker streak showing through. It stands 138cm on a foot 31.5cm across.

Nothing about the shape competes with a shade, which is the point of a base this quiet: the shade is what the eye lands on and the column simply holds it up. At 138cm the lampholder is above the head of anyone seated, so the bulb is out of view from a chair. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, the flex runs 3.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Mango is a fast growing hardwood and a by-product of fruit growing. Each column is turned individually, so the taper and the grain vary from one base to the next. At 2.6kg this is the lightest of these floor lamp bases, so keep the shade in proportion to the 31.5cm foot. The Sahar range also holds the same base in a dark stain. No shade and no bulb are included.

Specification

Height

138cm

Diameter

31.5cm

Material

Mango Wood

Colour

Natural

Recommended bulb

E27

Max watt

60W

Cord length

3.5m

Plug type

UK & EU

IP Rating

IP20

Weight

2.6kg

Frequently Asked

Does a shade come with it?

No, this is the base alone. A large shade suits the 138cm height.

Is 2.6kg heavy enough?

It is the lightest base here, so the shade matters more than usual. Keep its width close to the 31.5cm foot and avoid anything with real weight in it.

What is the difference from the dark stain version?

The stain only. Same column, same foot, same height. The natural reads pale and recedes; the dark one stays legible against a dark wall.

How do I care for the wood?

Wipe it with a dry soft cloth. Mango wood can be fed with a natural oil such as olive or walnut on a cloth, which nourishes it but will darken the tone and has to be put back if it is washed off.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0729/8993/3835/files/SL3501_01_packshot_hero_d3a6574c-53f1-4bd7-bddb-6bd8dd4b3cab.jpg?v=1789980901
