Two black plates stacked over a short opal glass drum, with a chrome cap above them held clear on posts so light escapes upward as well as down. The plates are wide, shallow and flat, one broader than the other, and their undersides are pale so they bounce light back into the room. The glass drum sits in a chrome collar that is the brightest thing on the fitting. The black is a flat matt tone and the chrome is polished. It hangs low and wide with the plates forming the whole of the silhouette. It measures 24cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room. A pair either side of a bed or a sofa reads as deliberate where one alone reads as an afterthought, and two smaller lamps light a room more evenly than one large one.
