A wide, very shallow black disc that flares out almost flat and turns down at its rim, with a chrome ring above it on short posts and a polished chrome cylinder capping the top. The chrome is bright and mirror-finished and shows only from below or from the side, where it catches the light escaping between the plates. Beneath the disc a short opal glass drum drops down and glows evenly, with a black skirt below it. The underside of the disc is pale, so it bounces light back down. The proportions are wide and low. It measures 40cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
