A wide, very shallow black disc that flares out almost flat and turns down at its rim, with two antique brass rings stacked above it on short posts and a brass cylinder capping the top. The brass is a soft aged gold and shows only from below or from the side, where it catches the light escaping between the rings. Beneath the disc a short opal glass drum drops down and glows evenly. The underside of the disc is pale, so it bounces light back down. The proportions are wide and low, so it hangs like a canopy rather than a shade. It measures 40cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
