reiko-flat-pendant-light-with-wood-base-matt-white
Reiko Flat Pendant Light with Wood Base - Matt White

Description

The Reiko is a flat pendant light: a shallow dome of aluminium in a matt white finish, capped by a round base of natural ash wood and hung on a textile cable. The fitting is 15cm tall, with a 21cm shade, so it is a compact pendant that reads low and wide rather than tall. The matt white surface is soft rather than glossy, and the pale grain of the ash brings a little warmth to the cool white curve. Light falls downward from the open underside of the dome, putting it where you need it on the surface below.

Because the shade is small, the Reiko suits places where a full-size pendant would crowd the space. Hang one over a bedside table in place of a lamp, over a desk or reading chair, or in a hallway or on a landing where a simple fitting is all that is wanted. Over a dining table or a breakfast bar, two or three in a line give an even spread of downward light without blocking the view across the table. Its Scandinavian, modern look sits comfortably with pale timber and white schemes, and alongside oak or ash furniture. We would keep it to dry rooms indoors.

The materials are plain and honest. The shade is aluminium with a matt white finish, the base is natural ash wood, and the cable is covered in textile, which looks more finished than a plastic flex where it hangs in view. The ash base sits at the top of the dome and frames it, while the 8cm canopy at the ceiling stays small and neat, keeping the eye on the shade. For styling, let the Reiko pick up the other natural materials in the room: linen, rattan, pale wood and stoneware all suit it, and a pair hung over a table gives a calm, balanced look.

Specification

Finish

Matt White

Materials

Aluminium shade, natural ash wood base and textile cable

Height

15cm

Canopy Diameter

8cm

Shade Diameter

21cm

Lamp Cap

E27

Number of Lamps

1

IP Rating

IP20

Control

On-off (switched)

Voltage

220-240V

Cable Length

1.5m

Guarantee

3 years

Product Code

01476

Frequently Asked

How big is the Reiko pendant?

The fitting is 15cm tall and has a 21cm shade, with an 8cm canopy at the ceiling, so it is a compact, low-profile pendant.

What is the Reiko pendant made from?

The shade is aluminium in a matt white finish, the base is natural ash wood, and the pendant hangs on a textile cable.

Is the white finish glossy?

No. The shade has a matt white finish, so it has a soft, even surface rather than a shiny one, set off by the natural ash base.

Where does a small pendant like this work best?

Its 21cm shade suits bedside tables, desks, hallways and landings, and two or three hung in a line work well over a dining table or breakfast bar.

Can the Reiko be used outdoors?

No. The Reiko is an indoor pendant, and we would keep it to dry rooms inside the home.
