The dome is close to straight sided, turning over at the shoulder into a flat top finished with a solid glass knob drawn up out of the crown. The board is a flat round of mango wood with a bullnose edge and a shallow groove turned in near the rim, and the dome sits down into that groove. The wood runs mid brown with darker figuring across the face.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe board is 34cm across and flat, so whatever goes under the dome is laid out across it rather than stacked up: a cake, or blue cheese and brie with crackers and grapes set round them. Because the board is flat rather than footed the whole thing stands low, and it can be looked over from the far side of a table.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown or set in a mould. Each dome is blown by hand and there is some variation at the top of every one, where the knob is drawn out.
