platalea-jungle-polyester-cushion-bottle-green
Platalea Jungle Polyester Cushion - Bottle Green

Description

The Platalea cushion carries a hand-illustrated jungle scene across a deep bottle green ground, with spoonbills and painted storks grazing amongst palms and dense tropical foliage. It is a 43 x 43cm square cover made from 100% polyester, printed here in the UK, and it works as a standalone piece rather than one that hides in a group. The birds are the point: soft pink spoonbills mid-wade, wings raised, set against a green so dark it reads almost as forest at dusk. If you like a print with somewhere to look, this is one to sit close to.

It is made as an outdoor cushion, so it belongs on a garden chair, a rope seat, a rattan bench or a covered patio corner where it will catch some weather. The water-resistant polyester is built to shrug off showers and the odd spilled drink, which is what lets it live outside rather than being carried in every evening. Indoors it is just as happy on a sofa or a reading chair, and the dark ground means it sits comfortably alongside brighter cushions in pink, orange or fuchsia without fighting them. It suits a planted, layered look more than a minimal one.

Construction is straightforward and honest: a standard knife edge, which gives that clean flat seam right to the corner, and a hidden zip so the cover closes without any visible fastening breaking up the print. Polyester holds printed colour well and resists fading in a way natural fibres tend not to, which matters for anything spending its days in daylight. The Platalea design comes in two colourways, so if bottle green is too dark for your spot, there is a lighter pink version showing the same jungle scene. Pair this one with plain solids and let the birds do the talking.

Specification

Material

100% polyester

Design

Printed tropical jungle with spoonbills, bottle green ground

Construction

Knife edge with hidden zip closure, water resistant

Size

43 x 43cm

Country of origin

United Kingdom

Frequently Asked

Can this cushion really be left outside?

Yes, it is made as an outdoor cushion from water resistant polyester, designed to withstand showers and spills, though bringing it under cover in prolonged wet weather will always help it last.

What size is the cover?

It is a 43 x 43cm square, which is the standard size for a scatter cushion and suits most garden chairs, sofas and benches without looking oversized.

How does the cover fasten?

It closes with a hidden zip, so the fastening sits out of sight and does not interrupt the printed jungle scene running across the front.

Is the colour likely to fade in the sun?

Polyester holds printed colour well and resists fading better than most natural fibres, which is part of why it is chosen for pieces that spend their days in daylight.

What does the print show?

It shows spoonbills and painted storks grazing in a tropical jungle of palms and foliage, set on a deep bottle green background for a bold, planted feel.

Does it come in other colours?

The Platalea design is available in two colourways, so alongside this bottle green there is a lighter pink version featuring the same jungle birds.
