The name is the mount a gallery sets around a drawing to hold it away from its frame. The design is by Studio Segers.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe square format suits a wall where an upright mirror would look adrift: over a console, on a chimney breast, or centred on a short wall. It hangs in one direction, on two hooks with wall plugs. Because the border is partly transparent the wall colour reads through the outer band, so the piece looks different on a dark wall than on a pale one and the position is worth deciding with that in mind. It is not rated for bathroom use, so keep it to dry rooms. At 12kg it is a comfortable two person lift. Wipe the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth and dust the oak dry, keeping standing water off the wood. On an empty wall the transparent band and the mirrored centre read much alike, which is why the mirror is photographed with a card set inside the frame: it is the only way to show where the silvering starts.
