A flattened opal glass lens, like a broad pebble, set through the middle of a wide flat black disc so the glass shows above the disc as a low dome and below it as a deeper bowl. The disc is thin and sharp-edged and much wider than the glass, acting as a brim that cuts the light sideways and throws it down. A small black knob finishes the very bottom of the glass. The glass is warm white and evenly diffusing and the disc is matt black with a white underside. A plain black flex runs up from a short collar on the top. It measures 24cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
