ollia-stoneware-vase-20cm-brown
Ollia Stoneware Vase 20cm - Brown

Description

Ollia is a vase that behaves more like a small sculpture. Its body is built from blocky, stepped forms: a tall, squared neck rises at one end, a lower shoulder steps down at the other, a notch is cut into one side and an arch opens at the base, so the whole piece stands on two broad feet. It is made from 100% stoneware and finished in a glossy, mottled brown glaze that speckles across every surface and catches the light on each flat face. At 18.5cm long, 10cm wide and 20cm tall, it is compact enough for a bookshelf yet has enough presence to stand alone.

Being only 10cm wide, it suits the narrow spots where a rounder vase would crowd things: a mantelpiece, a bookshelf, a windowsill or the back of a console table. The neck takes a few dried branches or grasses, and a loose spray of twigs sits well against the angular outline, though the vase is just as striking left empty as an ornament. It sits comfortably in a living room, a hallway or a study, and it groups well with candlesticks, wooden bowls and other sculptural pieces in a layered display. It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who likes ceramics with real character.

Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, which gives it a dense, hard-wearing body, and at 0.848KG this vase has a satisfying weight in the hand. The glaze runs over the outside and the rim, and its uneven, pitted texture means no two faces of the vase read quite the same. The styling props shown are not included. For the best effect, set it slightly off centre on a shelf with the tall neck turned towards the wall, and let a single dried branch lean out over the open space.

Specification

Width

10cm

Length

18.5cm

Height

20cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Brown

Weight

0.848KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the Ollia vase?

It is made from 100% stoneware, finished with a glossy, mottled brown glaze over the outside and the rim.

How big is the vase?

It is 18.5cm long, 10cm wide and 20cm tall, so it fits comfortably on a narrow shelf, a mantelpiece or a windowsill.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 0.848KG, which gives it a solid feel in the hand and makes it a substantial piece for its size.

What can I put in it?

The tall neck suits a few dried branches, grasses or stems, and the vase also works well on its own as a sculptural ornament.

Is anything else included with the vase?

You receive the vase alone.
