ollia-stoneware-vase-20cm-black
Ollia Stoneware Vase 20cm - Black

Description

Ollia is a stoneware vase with a shape all its own: a slim upright neck rises on one side, a deep notch is cut into the other, and the whole piece stands on two short feet with an arch between them. It is 20cm tall, 18.5cm long and 10cm wide, so it reads like a small sculpture from the front and stays slim enough for a narrow shelf. The surface is a glossy, rippled black, broken by rough, textured patches that give each face its own pattern. At 0.846KG it has real weight in the hand.

The opening sits at the top of the neck, which suits a few dried branches, a single stem or a sprig of grasses rather than a full bunch. We like it on a sideboard or a console table, where its stepped outline shows in full, or on a bookshelf beside a row of spines. At 10cm wide it fits a mantelpiece or a deep windowsill without crowding, and at 20cm tall it sits in proportion next to a lamp base or a stack of books. It suits a living room, a hallway or a study, and it makes a considered gift for anyone who collects ceramics or likes a piece with plenty of character.

The vase is made from 100% stoneware. Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, which gives it a dense, hard body. Over most of the piece the surface is glossy and gently hammered, while the textured patches look dry and rough by contrast, so the vase catches the light differently as you move about the room. As a styling note, let the black surface do the work: set it against a pale wall or on light wood, and keep the stems sparse and dry so the outline of the vase stays the point of interest.

Specification

Width

10cm

Length

18.5cm

Height

20cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Black

Weight

0.846KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the vase?

It is made from 100% stoneware, a dense clay body fired at a high temperature, with a glossy black surface and rough textured patches.

How big is it?

It is 18.5cm long, 10cm wide and 20cm tall, so it is slim enough for a narrow shelf, a mantelpiece or a deep windowsill.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 0.846KG, which gives it a solid, substantial feel in the hand and on a shelf or sideboard.

What suits this vase best?

The opening at the top of the neck suits a few dried branches, a single stem or a small sprig of grasses rather than a large bunch.

Does anything else come with it?

No. You receive the single stoneware vase on its own, and the styling props shown are not included.
