old-macdonald-tractor-wooden-money-box-green-and-white
Old MacDonald Tractor Wooden Money Box - Green & White

Description

This wooden money box is cut in the shape of a farm tractor, with Old MacDonald at the wheel in his flat cap, red check shirt and blue dungarees. The tractor is painted a soft sage green, with white cab windows, a grey exhaust stack, little round headlamps and a splash of mud along the side, while the two black wheels have chunky treads and cream hubs. The back is plain white, with a coin slot near the top. The front measures 19.6cm one way and 18cm the other, and the whole box is 5.4cm deep, so it sits neatly on a shelf.

We think it suits a nursery or a little one's bedroom, especially one with a farmyard or nursery rhyme theme. It is meant for the very youngest, from newborns to three year olds, so it makes a lovely keepsake gift from a grandparent, aunt, uncle or family friend, one that can stand on a windowsill or chest of drawers and gather pennies for years. It is a decorative piece for the room rather than something to play with, and it looks cheerful on a bookcase beside a row of picture books. Parents who grew up singing about Old MacDonald's farm will smile at it too.

The money box is made from wood, with the farmyard picture on the front and the coin slot at the back. To take the savings out, the big rear wheel turns aside to uncover a round opening, then swings back into place. At 5.4cm deep it stands upright on a flat surface with no need for a wall fixing. Dust it with a soft dry cloth, and keep it away from water and damp so the wood and colours stay fresh. As a gift, drop a first coin inside before wrapping, so the little one's savings begin the day it is opened.

Specification

Material

Wood

Colour

Green & White

Size

19.6 x 18cm

Depth

5.4cm

Weight

0.484kg

Frequently Asked

How big is the tractor money box?

The front measures 19.6cm one way and 18cm the other, and it is 5.4cm deep, so it fits easily on a nursery shelf or windowsill.

What is the money box made from?

It is made from wood, with the green tractor and Old MacDonald on the front and a plain white back with the coin slot.

How do you get the coins out?

The large rear wheel on the front turns aside to uncover a round opening, so the savings can be taken out, and it then swings back to close.

Where do the coins go in?

Coins drop in through a slot near the top of the plain white back, so the decorated front stays clear and tidy facing the room.

What age is it suitable for?

It suits babies and toddlers up to three years old as a keepsake for their room.
