A dark grey shade built in two steps: a short narrow cylinder at the top, then a sharp shoulder out to a wider straight-sided skirt that runs down to an open rim. The step between the two is a hard edge rather than a curve, which is what gives the shade its blocky outline. The inside is white and the rim is left open, so the light comes out as a clean disc below. A black flex runs straight into the top of the cylinder with no visible cap. The grey is a deep matt, almost black in shadow.
