The outside is worked all over in overlapping chisel cuts, each one a shallow facet a couple of centimetres long, so the wall reads as a faceted surface rather than a smooth curve. Inside it is left smooth, and the grain runs across the floor of the bowl in bands that lift lighter where the cut has gone deeper into the wood.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 33cm across this is a bowl for a table rather than a worktop: a dressed salad, fruit, or bread brought out whole. The wall is thick and the empty bowl weighs 2.07kg. Seen from directly above, the grain of the interior is the whole of what shows and the chiselling disappears.
