A smoked glass shade cut all over with a deep diamond pattern, shaped as a faceted bell that steps out to a shoulder near the top and then tapers down to a narrow open base. The tint is a soft grey, clear enough that the lamp inside shows through as a bright core and the cut throws the light out in fine sparks. A small black cap closes the top and carries a plain black flex. The shoulder gives the form a hard edge that the ribbed shades in the range do not have. It measures 17cm across and 18cm tall.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.
