A deep dome caps it, seamed over the crown and carrying a small square vent collar, with a thin handle hinged either side of that collar which folds down flat. Each of the four faces below is glazed, and the metal is cut into an arch over every pane, so the glass reads as four arched openings. One face is a door, held by a ring pull on its edge, and the whole thing stands on a flat square tray with a turned-up lip.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 41cm this is the shorter of the two Nivas sizes. It stands on the floor beside the taller one, both taking lit pillar candles, and at this height it will also stand on a hearth, a console or a wide windowsill. The door gives access to the full height of the inside, so the candle goes in and comes out from the side. It is for indoor use.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAluminium with clear glass panels. Each part starts as flat sheet, cut to a pattern, then heated and shaped by hand before the pieces are welded up. The finish is on the outside only: seen through the glass, the inner frame and the floor of the lantern are a raw pale grey against the aged outside. The Nivas is made in two sizes.
