The glass is a broad onion shape, its belly running out well past the width of the base before it draws in to a short neck and a plain cut rim. The base is a deep ring of mango wood with a rebate turned into the top that the glass sits down into, stained dark so the grain shows as bands through it. A turned wooden dish with a chiselled edge sits inside, on the floor of the glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 25cm across this is the wider of the two Naryla lanterns and it takes a small pillar candle rather than a tealight. That puts a standing flame inside a body of glass 25cm across, which makes it a centrepiece for a dining table or a single piece on a sideboard rather than one of a run. The widest part of the belly sits level with the middle of the candle, so the light goes out through the fullest part of the glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed, melted and mouth blown into a mould, and the wall of the shade is visibly uneven in thickness.
