It sits on a short jointed arm off a round wall plate, and a rust coloured cord loops over the joint and drops from it. The brass is aged and marked, darker along the folds. It is 20cm tall, 30cm wide, and projects 25cm from the wall.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt plugs into a socket, so it goes up without an electrician. Above a bedside table the cord runs down the wall to a switch on the flex, and it is part of the fitting rather than something to hide. The shade is solid, so the light goes forward and down and none of it goes up.
