montali-iron-rattan-storage-basket-natural-set-of-2
Montali Iron & Rattan Storage Basket - Natural - Set of 2

Description

Two open storage baskets, a large one 24cm tall, 34cm wide and 47cm deep and a small one at 17 by 27 by 39cm. Each is built on an iron frame, a wire rim around the top, posts at the corners and a wire grid for a base, with flat strips of rattan woven in and out of the uprights: closely along the long sides and more openly across the ends, so the frame shows through. A hand hole is cut into the top edge and bound in the same wire.

At 47cm deep and 34cm wide the large basket is longer than it is broad, which suits a run along the back of a worktop, the length of a shelf or the floor of a cupboard rather than a square corner; the small one takes the same shape at 39 by 27cm. The sides splay outward a little from the base to the rim, and the hand hole gives somewhere to take hold of a full basket. Because the weave is open the contents show through, so they suit folded linen, magazines or kitchen produce rather than things meant to be out of sight.

The frame is iron and the weave is rattan. The rattan is woven around the iron by hand, so the spacing of the strips and the tightness of the weave differ between the two baskets in one set and from set to set. Rattan matures faster than other woods and the same plant gives several harvests. The Montali range also runs to a spice rack, a three tiered storage stand and a two tier fruit stand.

Specification

Large Height

24cm

Large Width

34cm

Large Depth

47cm

Small Height

17cm

Small Width

27cm

Small Depth

39cm

Material

Iron & Rattan

Colour

Natural

Weight

2.4kg

Frequently Asked

How many baskets are in the set?

Two, a large and a small.

What are the two sizes?

The large is 24cm tall, 34cm wide and 47cm deep.
