millie-floral-stoneware-cup-110ml-yellow
Millie Floral Stoneware Cup 110ml - Yellow

Description

This is a small yellow stoneware cup made for children. It is painted by hand with three flowers on slender stems that rise from a contrasting lower band. It holds 110ml and stands 7cm tall and 6cm across, which makes it a cup for a short drink rather than a mug: about right for a measure of milk, water or juice at a child's place at the table. The glaze has a glossy sheen, the round loop handle is generous for the size of the cup, and the whole piece weighs 0.15KG.

It belongs at breakfast, at an after-school snack or on a tea party table laid for little guests, and it sits happily beside a plate and bowl at a family meal. Grown-ups take to it too: 110ml is the size of a small coffee cup, so it suits an espresso or a short coffee, and stoneware holds heat well. Because it is stoneware rather than plastic, it feels like proper tableware, the kind of cup a child can call their own and look forward to using every morning.

The flowers are handpainted, so the brushwork differs a little from one cup to the next, as it always does with hand painting. Stoneware is a dense clay fired hard, which gives it the strength for daily use. Care is simple: it goes in the dishwasher, and it can go in the microwave and the oven as well, so it fits easily into the routine of a busy family kitchen. For styling, we like it on an open shelf beside plain cups and bowls, where the yellow glaze and the painted flowers can carry the colour of the whole display.

Specification

Height

7cm

Diameter

6cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Yellow

Finish

Handpainted

Capacity

110ml

Dishwasher safe

Yes

Microwave safe

Yes

Oven safe

Yes

Food safe

Yes

Weight

0.15KG

Frequently Asked

How much does the cup hold?

It holds 110ml.
