The bowl is tall and barely tapered, and round it run two bands of moulded relief, each a row of narrow pointed ovals standing proud between fine vertical lines, with a raised ring dividing the two. Below the bands the bowl is left plain and rounds down into a short stem. The stem and the foot carry the same green as the bowl, and the thicker glass reads darker than the thin.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e375ml is a full sized wine glass rather than a small one, and at 19.5cm these stand tall on a table. The moulded bands sit around the middle of the bowl, at the height a hand takes hold of it. In a row on a brass topped sideboard the green goes deep and the relief picks up the light along the top edge of each band. Against a pale ground the same glass reads much greyer, closer to smoke than to emerald.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled. Waste glass is melted down and blown or moulded again, so the depth of the emerald and the crispness of the relief vary a little from glass to glass.
