miki-iron-christmas-tealight-holder-gold
Miki Iron Christmas Tealight Holder - Gold

Description

This is a Christmas tealight holder drawn in iron: a length of wire bent into the outline of a fir tree, with a small glass cup for a tealight held in a ring at its centre. It stands 28.5cm tall, 18cm long and 7cm wide, and weighs 0.4KG, light enough to move from sill to shelf as the season goes on. The material is 80% iron and 20% glass: the frame, stem and foot are metal, and only the cup is glass. Because the tree is an open outline rather than a solid shape, you see through it to whatever sits behind, and the lit candle seems to float among the branches.

Its home is the Christmas season, on a mantelpiece, a sideboard or a hall console. The flat outline and 7cm width suit narrow ledges where a bushier decoration would not fit, such as a slim windowsill or the top of a radiator cover. On its own, the single flame catches the eye as you come in; grouped with paper trees, candlesticks and greenery along a sill, its open shape lets the pieces behind it show. The gold sits as happily in a traditional scheme of greens and creams as in a pared-back one.

The iron is finished with lacquer in gold, and in places the gold has a mottled, aged look, so it reads more like a treasured old decoration than a high-shine piece. The stem rises from a fluted foot, and the glass cup sits in a shallow metal ring where the stem meets the base of the tree. Glass lets the glow of a flame show through on every side. The styling props shown are not included. Set it in front of a window at dusk so the lit tealight sits against the fading light, or stand a pair at either end of a mantelpiece.

Specification

Width

7cm

Length

18cm

Height

28.5cm

Material

80% Iron, 20% Glass

Colour

Gold

Finish

Lacquer

Weight

0.4KG

Frequently Asked

What is this tealight holder made of?

It is 80% iron and 20% glass.
