A small white cone shade on a bright chrome flexible arm that comes off a round white wall plate, bending in a long easy curve so the head can be pushed anywhere within reach. The cone is straight-sided with a white lining, and a line of small vent holes runs round its shoulder. A chrome switch knob stands out on the face of the wall plate below the arm. The plate is plain and round with a single visible fixing screw. Everything but the arm and the knob is the same flat white. The arm is a flexible gooseneck, so the head stays where it is bent.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wall light earns its place by leaving the surface below it clear. Beside a bed where there is no room for a table lamp, over a work bench, up a stairwell or either side of a mirror, it gives directed light without taking up any space. Fix it at about 1.5m from the floor beside a bed and a little higher flanking a mirror, so the light falls on the face rather than into the eyes of anyone standing in front of it. There is a rotary ON-OFF-ON switch on the backplate, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe holder is GU10 and takes up to 35W. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician.
