A wide shallow black dome tipped over on a short black arm that clamps to a long black wall rail fixed top and bottom, so the mouth faces down and out. The dome is a smooth curve, much broader than it is deep, with a short spout at its crown and a pale lining that shows as a bright disc from below. A small brass collar sits at the knuckle, and the head slides along the rail and locks where it is wanted. A black lead runs down beside the rail on show. The black is matt throughout. The arm is a long swan neck, curving out from the wall before it turns back in. It measures 23cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wall light earns its place by leaving the surface below it clear. Beside a bed where there is no room for a table lamp, over a work bench, up a stairwell or either side of a mirror, it gives directed light without taking up any space. Fix it at about 1.5m from the floor beside a bed and a little higher flanking a mirror, so the light falls on the face rather than into the eyes of anyone standing in front of it. There is an inline switch on the coiled flex, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe holder is E27 and takes up to 40W.
