A tall black dome, narrow at the top and flaring out to a wide open rim, with the sides curving in a continuous bell rather than a straight cone. The outside is matt black and the inside is lined in a pale cream that shows as a bright ring when you stand below it. A short black cylinder caps the top where the flex enters, stepped slightly narrower than the dome beneath it. The rim is left open with no diffuser. The proportions are deeper than they are wide, so the lamp sits well up inside and the light leaves as a directed pool. It measures 15cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA shade this small works better in a run of two or three over an island than alone in the middle of a ceiling, where it reads as an accent rather than the main light. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
