meridian-plain-velvet-cushion-hot-pink-magenta
Meridian Plain Velvet Cushion - Hot Pink / Magenta

Description

The Meridian is a plain velvet cushion in a bright hot pink, finished with a contrasting piped trim in a slightly redder tone that runs the full way round the edge. It measures 55 x 55cm, which puts it at the larger end of the scale cushions come in, so it fills a corner of a sofa rather than getting lost in it. The face is a smooth, even velvet with no pattern, so the colour and the pile do the work, catching the light differently as you move past it.

A cushion this size and this colour is an accent rather than a background piece. Sat against a neutral sofa, a grey or a cream, it gives you a single point of colour that carries a whole seat. Two of them anchor the ends of a three-seater, or one sits on a bedroom chair or across the foot of a bed. Because the front is plain, it layers happily in front of a patterned cushion without the two fighting, and the piped edge gives it a defined outline against whatever it leans on.

The cover is 100% polyester velvet, which holds its colour well and resists the fading you sometimes get from a sunny window. It fastens with a concealed zip along one edge, so the closure stays out of sight and the cover comes off for cleaning. The piped trim is a sewn-in cord seam that keeps the four edges crisp and helps the cushion keep its square shape through daily use. Velvet responds to a light brush in the direction of the pile if it flattens. As a plain velvet in a strong colour, it also gives you an easy way to pull a brighter shade into a scheme that is otherwise quiet.

Specification

Material

100% polyester velvet

Design

Plain, square, with contrasting piped trim

Construction

Concealed zip closure

Size

55 x 55cm

Frequently Asked

Is the cushion cover removable?

Yes, it fastens with a concealed zip along one edge, so the cover comes off for cleaning and the closure stays hidden when it is on.

Does the piping match the front of the cushion?

No, the piped trim is a contrasting tone, a slightly redder shade running around all four edges, which gives the cushion a defined outline against whatever it sits on.

How big is 55 x 55cm in practice?

It is a large square cushion, big enough to fill the corner of a sofa or sit across the foot of a bed rather than getting lost among smaller pieces.

What is the cover made of?

The cover is 100% polyester velvet, which holds its colour well and stands up to everyday use on a sofa or a chair.

How do I keep the velvet looking its best?

If the pile flattens with use, a light brush in the direction of the pile lifts it again and brings back the even sheen across the face.
