merchant-oval-bulkhead-light-ip64-antique-brass
Merchant Oval Bulkhead Light IP64 - Antique Brass

Description

The Merchant is an oval bulkhead light made from solid brass in an antique brass finish, with a sturdy matching cage over a clear ribbed glass. Four cross-head screws at the corners hold the front in place, and the whole light has the purposeful look of a ship's fitting. It is compact at 20.5cm long, 11.5cm wide and 12cm deep, and weighs a solid 1.31KG. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water: it can live outdoors and take British weather in its stride.

Put it beside a front door, in a porch, along a garden wall or on a boathouse, where its caged face looks at home. The maker describes these bulkheads as made for outdoor places where an industrial or nautical effect is wanted, and says the brass makes them a favourite for projects in coastal regions. The maker also says the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names. It sits as happily on a seaside cottage as on a plain brick or rendered house in town, and a pair either side of a door gives an entrance a welcoming look.

The maker says the solid brass body has an aged, original looking finish. Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so expect the colour to deepen with the seasons. The maker also says screws take the place of wing nuts, so the front cover is harder for the wrong hands to remove. The cable comes in through a gland at the end or the rear, and a brass blank is included to close off the entry you are not using. It takes one E27 (ES) lamp of up to 18W, a holder the maker says suits a wide range of bulbs; the lamp is not included, so remember one with your order. As with any mains light, have it installed by a qualified electrician.

Specification

Finish

Antique Brass

Material

Solid Brass

Diffuser

Clear Ribbed Glass

Lamp

1 x E27 (ES) 18W Max (Lamp Not Included)

IP Rating

IP64

Width

11.5cm

Length

20.5cm

Depth

12cm

Cable Entry

Cable Gland at the End or Rear (Brass Blank Included)

Weight

1.31KG

Supply

230V ~ 50Hz

Protection Class

Class I

Certification

CE

Manufacturer's Warranty

2 Years

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Can the Merchant bulkhead light be used outdoors?

Yes.
