mendani-mango-wood-glass-display-cabinet-walnut
Mendani Mango Wood & Glass Display Cabinet - Walnut

Description

The Mendani is a display cabinet 188cm tall, 90cm wide and 40cm deep, in mango wood under a walnut stain dark enough to read as brown while the grain still shows through it. Two doors take up almost the whole front, each divided by wooden rails into four panels of fluted glass, so the front reads as eight tall panes of ribbing. The doors close against a pair of small wooden pulls at the centre, and the carcass stands clear of the floor on four square legs.

At 188cm it is tall and narrow: 90cm across and only 40cm deep, so it holds a wall without pushing into the room. The fluted glass gives back shape and colour but not detail, so what is inside reads as forms rather than as a row of separate objects, which suits crockery, folded linen or books as much as a display. It fits an alcove, with all four levels in use. The wood and the tempered glass are treated to stand the moisture of a bathroom.

The wood is mango, worked by hand and then stained walnut, which darkens the timber and brings the grain forward. Mango is grown first for fruit and harvested over several years; once the trees stop bearing they are cut so new ones can be planted, and selling the timber gives the farmer a second income. The glass is fluted, and it is tempered, which means heat treated to make it stronger. The cabinet weighs 68kg, and a low Mendani cabinet is made as well.

Specification

Height

188cm

Width

90cm

Depth

40cm

Material

Mango Wood & Glass

Colour

Walnut

Weight

68kg

Frequently Asked

How many levels are there inside?

Four, behind the doors.

Can you see through the glass?

Only partly. Mild soap and water can be used, but not too much water, which damages the grain and the stain. Mop up spills at once, blot them with a dry paper towel, go over the area with a damp lint free cloth and dry it immediately. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away, do not stand wet items on the surface, and use coasters and mats.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0729/8993/3835/files/MC2201_01_packshot_hero_58e7fb48-de32-4cc2-8f40-6e5f362acd7e.jpg?v=1790868537
