The board is a single plain plank with the grain running along it. An iron gallery rail on short uprights runs along the back edge in an antique brass finish that has gone dark in patches, and two shaped brackets carry the shelf, each cut with a curve where it meets the underside.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe gallery edge stops what stands on the shelf from being pushed off the back, which is what makes this a kitchen or pantry shelf rather than a display one: jars, bottles, a row of tins, a board stood on its edge. At 110cm there is room for a long run of them, and the shelf carries up to 12kg.
