The stem runs almost the whole of that height before it opens into a deep flute of a cup at the top, so nearly all the height is bare metal and the candle sits above everything around it. The surface is pitted and hammered, the brass darker in the hollows than on the high points, and the stem does not run perfectly straight.

Thirty centimetres puts a dinner candle above the plates rather than among them, and the disc takes only 8cm of table for it. The three Mbata sizes stand together, this one in the middle between the 20cm and the 40cm.

The metal is aluminium, and the rustic surface is made during soldering rather than applied over the top afterwards. Every one is worked by hand, so the stems lean differently and no two take the finish the same way. Mbata runs at 20cm and 40cm as well, and as a candelabra. The candle is not included.

Specification

Height

30cm

Diameter

8cm

Material

Aluminium

Finish

Rustic Antique Brass

Weight

0.65kg

Frequently Asked

How tall is it?

30cm, on a disc 8cm across.

What candle does it take?

A dinner candle, in the cup at the top.

What are the other sizes?

20cm and 40cm.

What is it made of?

Aluminium, with a rustic antique brass finish.

How do I look after it?

Wash with a mild dish soap and warm water after each use so wax does not build up, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish.
