mayaga-charger-plate-gold
Mayaga Charger Plate - Gold

Description

The Mayaga charger plate is a round plate of clear glass with a thin gold rim. It sits beneath a dinner plate and frames each place setting. It measures 32.7cm across and 2cm high, with a wide, flat rim around a shallow centre well. The glass has a gentle rippled texture that catches both candlelight and daylight. At 0.92KG it has a reassuring weight, so it stays in place on a tablecloth or runner while plates are set down and lifted off.

We see it working hardest at a dinner party, a family celebration or a wedding table, where a charger plate makes an everyday place setting look laid with care. Because the glass is clear, whatever is underneath stays visible. A linen runner, a wooden table top or a coloured cloth remains part of the look, while the gold edge sits happily alongside brass candlesticks, gold cutlery and warm candlelight. It suits a host who likes to change the table from one occasion to the next, because a clear plate works with almost any dinner service and any colour of napkin.

The plate is glass throughout, with the gold kept to a fine band on the outer edge. Glass is non-porous, so it does not hold stains or smells. At 2cm high it lies low and flat, so it tucks into a cupboard or sideboard without taking up much room. Care is simple: wash it by hand rather than in the dishwasher, then dry it and put it away until the next gathering. Before you set the table, check that your dinner plates measure less than 32.7cm across, so a ring of clear glass and gold shows around each one.

Specification

Material

Glass

Care

Hand wash

Height

2cm

Diameter

32.7cm

Weight

0.92KG

Frequently Asked

Can the Mayaga charger plate go in the dishwasher?

No, this is a hand wash piece.
